Tidy what someone typed into a poll, or say what is wrong with it.

Shared so the composer holds its button back for exactly what the server would refuse. Blank answers are dropped rather than refused: an empty row left at the bottom of the form is not a mistake worth stopping for. Missing settings take their defaults; present but malformed ones are refused.
